Labor Unions
This
site is pro-union. Not only do unionized workers earn more money than their
unorganized counterparts in any given trade or industry; they also have more job
security, and control over their working conditions. Much has been said about
the decline of unions. It is true that unions have a smaller percentage of the
total workforce organized today than they did thirty years ago. But, when you
add in retirees and family members, union households make up about a quarter of
our population. Other than churches, no other organizations come close to unions
in size and potential power. And unions are growing again. Some unions are
aggressively organizing. For
more information about ongoing campaigns go to our Organizing
page. For information about U.S. labor laws see our Know
Your Rights and Labor
Law pages.
